Craniofacial, Cleft Palate, and Cleft Lip Treatment
Caring for a child with a cleft lip, cleft palate, or other craniofacial difference requires a team approach. Orthodontics plays a key role in that journey, and at Yarkie Orthodontics, we are honored to be part of that care.
Dr. Megan Yarkie is the orthodontist on the Ascension St. Vincent Craniofacial Team at Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital. She works alongside a multidisciplinary team of medical and dental specialists to provide comprehensive care for children with cleft and craniofacial conditions.
Orthodontic treatment for these patients is often a long-term process that begins early in life and continues through the teenage years. Dr. Yarkie is experienced in guiding children through each phase of treatment, from early jaw and tooth development to preparing for surgical procedures and managing long-term orthodontic needs.
At Yarkie Orthodontics, we offer:
- Ongoing orthodontic support as part of the craniofacial team
- Treatment planning in coordination with surgeons and other specialists
- Early interventions to support healthy jaw and dental development
- A compassionate, family-focused approach to care
We are committed to helping every child feel confident and supported throughout their orthodontic journey. If your child is part of the craniofacial or cleft care team through Ascension St. Vincent, or if you’re seeking guidance on next steps, we are here to help.
Mouthwash Is Important, Too!
Brushing and flossing may not be enough. The ADA now recommends using an antimicrobial mouthwash to reduce plaque and prevent gingivitis.

Don't Forget to Floss!
Clean between teeth daily with floss or an interdental cleaner. Decay-causing bacteria can hide between teeth where toothbrush bristles can't reach. Flossing helps remove plaque and food particles from between teeth and under the gum line.
